These various topics addressed in the podcasts represent for them :

Almost all podcasts are in audio format and hosted on a wide range of platforms: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, etc. A practical format, because we can listen to it in our headphones while gardening, walking… Podcasts are easy to find and download, we can listen to them at our own pace and convenience to immerse ourselves more deeply in a subject.

Why do we talk about a hybrid format for podcasts?

Today, there is a new trend in the way podcasts are consumed. Depending on the mood and the context, a listener wants to have the option of viewing the podcast in video or audio. During a trip, it is nice to watch the podcast in video, especially when there are guests. For example, this is the case with Lena Situations’ 6 Seat Sofa podcast. All of her exchanges with celebrity guests are filmed and that’s what captures the conversation.

A hybrid format is when a podcast combines traditional audio with additional visual elements: video clips, images, text, links, subtitles (read our article on podcast subtitling) interactive content such as quizzes or games. This type of format allows podcast creators to tell richer, more complete stories and provide a reinvented experience.

YouTube was quick to adapt by creating a new “podcast” tab exclusively for video podcasts. Google is also implementing a compensation system to encourage and convince podcasters to film their content.

What are the advantages of this format?

The advantages of the hybrid podcast format are numerous.

  1. The first and most obvious is that the content is more engaging than traditional audio content.
  2. Hybrid podcasts make it easier for podcast creators to connect with their audience and enhance their experience.
  3. They can also help creators develop stronger relationships with their community by giving them a wider variety of formats to choose from.
  4. Finally, podcasters can use the hybrid format to add more value to their content and improve their visibility through search engines.

In short, a video podcast will combine narrative elements such as interviews, monologues and discussions with more traditional content such as music tracks, soundtracks and sound effects. A whole set of elements that makes your podcast more alive!
